This will be the 154th Great Yorkshire Show, and dates are Tuesday July 10 – Thursday 12. With the Olympics on the horizon and the Jubilee celebrations just past, the country is clearly enjoying waving the flag for Britain. As ever, we will reflect that tradition as well as embracing innovation and the latest technology for the industry.

The livestock classes remain at the heart of the event with our entries as strong as ever. There can be few more impressive sights than the cattle parades of championship winners in the Main Ring on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. With around 20 breeds of cattle and more than 30 sheep breeds, there’s both quality and quantity in abundance.

Our Main Ring attractions include the superb Ukrainian Cossacks, who I am sure will have the grandstand crowds on the edge of their seats!

Top class show jumping is a given at the Great Yorkshire, and this year will be no exception with the Ripon Select Foods Cock o’the North Championship on Thursday as the climax. Launched last year, the Mini Major show jumping competition was hugely successful and will again feature. The TopSpec Supreme Ridden Championship on Wednesday and Thursday’s Supreme In Hand Championship are always highlights.

We have expanded our horticultural area as in addition to the tempting displays within the Garden Show hall, we now have an extensive number of show gardens nearby.

And, for the first time, we are hosting a heat to choose the UK squad for the landscape gardening section of the prestigious WorldSkills competition, so take a look at what could be a world-beating garden.

We are delighted to once again attract some of the country’s finest sheepshearers as we host the final of the English Shears Award and our new forge can be found at the north of the showground.

The Fashion Shows, again supported by the Yorkshire Post, are always hugely popular as we showcase the very latest in designs from high street companies as well as the more “unusual” designs from some of the region’s finest fashion students.

Under 5s admitted free. Unaccompanied children under 12 years of age will not be admitted.

Opening Hours

The Showground is open between 7.30am and 7.30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, but closes at 6.30pm on Thursday. There is no admission after 5pm.

Dogs, with the exception of assistance dogs, are not permitted on the showground or in the car parks. Please be kind to your dog and leave it at home.

Travelling by Train?

Trains run every half hour between Leeds and Harrogate, and every hour between York and Harrogate. Then use the free shuttle bus to the showground.

Free Shuttle Bus

Harrogate District Travel operates a return bus service to the showground from Harrogate Bus station, commencing daily at 7.20am until the show closes. The departures from Harrogate are every 20 minutes. Please note there is no service from Hornbeam Park Station.
