Bus passengers get weekly ticket to ride

bus operators are joining forces with council chiefs in York to launch a ticket to be used on any service in the city for a week.

The council said the launch of the All York week ticket shows its commitments under the Get York Moving programme to improve the city’s public transport.

Coun Dave Merrett, cabinet member for planning, sustainability and transport, said: “One of the commitments of Get York Moving was to introduce a single ticket that could be used on all operators’ bus services and this is now a reality.”

The week ticket costs £20 and allows travel on any bus anywhere in York for seven consecutive days.

Purchasing the ticket makes considerable savings on buying multiple tickets from different operators and offers a cost-effective alternative to using the car and parking for journeys to work, says the council. Some real time savings can also be made in locations where multiple bus companies run, such as Fulford Road, as there is no longer the need to wait for one specific bus to arrive as it can be used on any bus.

Day and family day All York tickets can also be purchased on board any bus within York.
