College has the flower power at show
Askham Bryan College took the People’s Choice Award, a gold medal and several silvers at last weekend’s Spring Flower Show at Harrogate.
Over the four days of the event, visitors voted for their favourite garden, and on the final day, the news was announced that the students’ entry had won. Harry Turner, horticultural lecturer who organised the entry, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled. The dozen students involved really took ownership of the garden, and worked incredibly hard through appalling weather conditions, so this is an amazing achievement.”
Liz Philip, principal, said she was “hugely proud” of the students and staff involved.
