Drewton’s Farm Shop, near South Cave in East Yorkshire, is staging a harvest festival concert on the evening of Friday, October 4 to coincide with the business’s third anniversary.

Five charities will benefit from proceeds raised at the event, which boasts a line-up featuring Howden-based tenor Steven Goulden and his accompanist Peter Sproston, local soprano Lucy Bates, the Lyndhurst School Choir and musicians, the Salvation Army, the Pocklington School Music Theatre Society and a local gospel choir.

Sixteen-year-old musician Bethany Gilbert is flying in from Ireland to take part in the event and comes with a burgeoning reputation having just won a ‘most promising pianist’ title at a music festival.

Drewton’s proprietor Katie Taylor said: “The harvest was traditionally celebrated by eating, merriment and giving food donations to those less fortunate in our communities, so this concert is our own unique take on that idea.

“Beverley Minster is an amazing setting for our event and we’ve lined up an exciting programme of musical entertainment for the evening, with performances by local choirs, solo artists, musicians and actors.”

The concert will be followed by an opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine and tasty Yorkshire cheeses, and meet a variety of local food producers, who have agreed to support the event.

There will also be a raffle and an opportunity to speak with representatives of the charities that Drewton’s Farm Shop is supporting, which include The Leeds Teaching Hospital’s Lymphoedema Service, GoKidsGo!, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, The Alzheimer’s Society and Dove House Hospice.

Tickets, priced at £15 for adults and £10 for ten to 16-year-olds, are on sale now from Drewton’s Farm Shop or can be booked and paid for over the phone by calling 01430 425079.

Only a limited number of tickets are available, so they will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Guests are welcome to make food donations of items with a long shelf life at the event itself.

All donations will be distributed locally by the Salvation Army, in partnership with Churches Together and the Holderness and Wold Food Bank, Driffield.
