Father and son fined over party noise

A father and son have been fined over noisy parties.

Jason Burrows, 44, and his 18-year-old son Luke annoyed their neighbours for two years by holding parties in their house and in the hot tub in the back garden of their house in Anlaby, near Hull.

Despite warnings, environmental officers from East Riding Council had to serve noise abatement notices.

Even then, the noise continued, sometimes into the early hours of the morning.

The pair, of Loyd Street, Anlaby, both pleaded guilty at Beverley magistrates’ to breaching the notices. They were given fines totalling £1,224, including £398 costs, with the bill split between them.

Magistrates warned that any further appearances for breaches of the notices would result in substantially higher fines.

Ian McKechnie, senior environmental health officer for East Riding Council, said: “It was weekdays as well as weekends, sometimes till 2am in the morning. It just went on and on. It wasn’t as if it was an occasional party.”

He added: “This sends out a clear message to anyone making the lives of others a misery that we will take action and it will be costly.”
