HORSES remain one of the star attractions of the Great Yorkshire Show with the main ring drawing large crowds throughout the day.

Lorenzo, the Equestrian Dynamo, was among the performers who entertained the crowds yesterday afternoon.

The first day of the show, so tradition claims, is usually the busiest of the three days. However, the appearance today of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall is expected to mean even bigger crowds.

Thousands of visitors began streaming through the gates yesterday from 7am with the usual large queues of traffic forming around the roads leading to the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate. The rain which had been forecast mercifully held off, except for the odd light shower.
