The annual one-day event is due to be held at Welburn Park in Kirkbymoorside on Tuesday 29 July and a new show plan is being drawn up for the showfield, organisers told attendees at its annual meeting.

A new computerised database will be in place and a new website for online ticket sales. New signs will be installed alongside surrounding roads and entrances to the showfield.

As a result of the success of last year’s show, members of the organising committee agreed at the meeting to increase donations to local charities from £4,000 to £9,700.

Show secretary Tom Watson told members that a record number of 1,680 entries were received for the horticultural and produce classes in 2013, and 1,200 horses across 100 classes.

“The show was as busy as ever, with a great atmosphere and fortunately the weather was in our favour,” he said.

Officers elected for this year’s show are: Chris Tetley of Brawby as president, John Simpson of Fadmoor as chairman and William Curtis Junior of Keldholme as vice-chairman. For more details about the 2014 Ryedale Show, visit www.ryedaleshow.org.uk
