Machinery sale had worldwide reach

EXCEPTIONAL interest in a machinery sale in North Yorkshire included online bidders from Ireland, Poland, Netherlands, Croatia, Saudi Arabia and Norway. But locals came up with the best prices, including £185,000 for a Claas Lexion 750 Terra Trac combine.

The sale, by Stephenson & Son, at Grange Farm, Great Broughton, Stokesley, was generated by contractor Gordon Sanderson’s decision to retire after losing a key contract, and was unusual for the range of low-mileage big kit.

Prices included: Fendt 820 Vario tractor (’09), £73,000; JCB 536-60 fork lift (’10), £41,000; Master 20T grain dryer (’11), £34,000; Sumo Trio 3m cultivator, £22,800; Triffitt 16T grain trailer, £15,700; Bailey 14T grain trailer, £14,000; Daewoo Solar excavator, £15,800; KRM MW2 fertiliser spreader, £8,200; Triffitt bale trailer, £6,200; Kverneland 5f plough, £5,300; Kongskilde 3m front terra discs, £3,700; Spaldings 90/150 flatlift, £4,400; Teagle TFH250 flail topper, £3,600.
