More pigs and sheep than ever before at GYS

EXPECT MORE pigs and sheep at the Great Yorkshire Show this year.Record entry numbers have been received for both ahead of the 157th show in Harrogate on July 14-16.

In all, six competitive categories have reached new highs, with entry records also set for pigeons, sheep shearing and the honey and wool sections.

Show director, Bill Cowling, said: “The Great Yorkshire remains England’s flagship agricultural event in terms of the sheer quality of the competitive entries, as well as the large numbers.

“It bodes well for the farming industry that so many exhibitors are committed to excellence and to showing our visitors the best of the best, whether that is a champion bull, a champion rabbit or the fastest and most skilful show jumper. Excellence is what the Great Yorkshire Show is all about.”

In total 12,651 entries have been received for England’s premier agricultural event. The figure is just shy of last year’s all-time high of 12,847.
