Proud owner notches up another success with his Limousin cross champion steer

WITH eight championships and six interbreed titles to its name, Jager Bomb has enjoyed a first class show season, bringing much joy to owner Tecwyn Jones.

The black Limousin cross steer took the top prize of Supreme Beef Interbreed champion at this year’s Countryside Live, impressing judges in a very strong field.

Mr Jones, of North Wales, has been reserve champion at the show before but this year marked his first time as the winner of the supreme title.

The 16-month-old animal will now go into the winter show season as a strong favourite wherever it competes and is likely to command a high price when put forth for auction.

Mr Jones told the Yorkshire Post that he was proud to win the title, and of his animal.

“The lines of the beast perhaps are what made it stand out. He’s had fantastic year.”

The contest ended up being dominated by the Welsh, with the reserve position taken by Glyn Howatson of Ty Newydd, Denbigh, Denbighshire.

Philip Sellers, the head judge of this year’s cattle classes, described the decision as to who to award the title to as the hardest since he got married.

“We have two outstanding animals here,” he said. “In the end I had to give it to the black bullock because it is just that bit more finished.”
