Following an investment of more than £100,000 by the site owners the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, the Harrogate Caravan Park, situated in the Crimple Valley adjacent to the Harrogate Showground, will open on Thursday.

Bookings are already coming in and the site is full on the opening weekend, the Tour de France weekend of July 5 and 6 and for the Great Yorkshire Show.

There are a total of 66 pitches, which are a mix of hard standing and grass.

Heather Parry, deputy chief executive of the society said: “We have a beautiful site on the outskirts of Harrogate and it is wonderful to be able to offer visitors an additional accommodation choice.

“So now we are busy with the last of the planting and painting in readiness for the official opening.

“We believe we have a unique venue, with high-quality facilities, in a great location and look forward to becoming a popular choice for business and holiday guests.”

The news follows the announcement earlier this month that the Yorkshire Agricultural Society is applying for planning permission to replace one of its two exhibition halls in a £10m project.
