YORKSHIRE scores three entries in the 2012 Farming In Focus calendar from the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and the picture at the right is one – judging of dairy cattle at the Great Yorkshire Show in 2010, by Adrian Legge.

This week’s big Yorkshire show was at Thornton-le-Dale near Pickering, where a scorching day ended in a cloudburst which cut some events short but the crowd before that looked like a record of around 12,000.

Best sheep in show was a Suffolk from David Aconley of West Knapton, near Malton.

Bakewell Show was in progress as these pages went to press.
