Show dressed to thrill

Organised in conjunction with the Yorkshire Post, the shows take place in the Skipton Building Society Fashion Pavilion. Whether it’s traditional, modern or downright quirky, the “wow factor” is promised.

The shows are choreographed and co-ordinated by Morton Gledhill, the Fashion Team under the leadership of Bernadette Gledhill. And there are a number of “firsts” to look out for.

In pole position is Ginetta, the Yorkshire-based racing car manufacturers, who are launching their first ever clothing collection at the Show. Their range of countrywear – entitled G58 – is for both men and women. The range has been created by two young designers, Laura Tomlinson and Becky Milne who joined the company following their graduation from Huddersfield University. It’s a special year for Brook Taverner, whose stunning ladies and menswear is the epitome of elegance and quality. The Keighley-based company is celebrating its centenary and to mark this milestone has commissioned a limited edition men’s wool jacket, and matching scarf.

Another “first” will be the guest appearance of members of Boston Spa Womens’ Institute. The Great Yorkshire Show will be the culmination of catwalk training for these feisty ladies who will be wearing collections from Harveys of Halifax and also the high street store, Hobbs.

Look out for the competition run by sponsors Skipton Building Society. Visitors are invited to guess the number of mannequins on a giant poster in the Pavilion to win £250 worth of vouchers to spend at Selfridges.

Collections from Hardy of Leftbank and Kelly Ewing will show why they’re both the choice of X Factor celebrities, Little Mix and Amelia Lily. Hardy also counts JLS amongst his customers. Talent from tomorrow’s designers can also be seen with designs courtesy of students from both Bradford and Craven Colleges.

Yorkshire Post fashion writer Stephanie Smith said: “The Ginetta collection is very stylish, and both Hardy and Kelly are exceptionally talented designers, but I am most looking forward to seeing the sassy, beautiful women of Boston Spa’s Women’s Institute take to the runway.

“If their Yorkshire Post Magazine shoot is anything to go by, they will be a highlight of the Fashion Pavilion.”

The Great Yorkshire Show is grateful to long-term partners Skipton Building Society which generously sponsors the pavilion. In addition, the show is delighted to welcome Brook Taverner as sponsors of the fashion show programme and Bradford College, sponsors of the press room. Bradford College is also providing stylists for the models’ hair and makeup.

The shows take place each day at 1100, 1230, 1430 and 1600.
