Show veterans honoured with long service awards

AFTER more than half a century of contributions towards the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, Barry Liddle was honoured for his efforts.

Based at Felliscliffe, Harrogate, Mr Liddle as been associated with the society for 51 years. He was presented with a long service award by president elect Susan Cunliffe-Lister yesterday.

He was honoured alongside journalist David Taylor who has now attended more than 45 shows. Other recipients were councillors and society council members Chris Brown, of Baldersby, near Thirsk, and Richard Grange, of Bland Hill, near Harrogate.

They were joined by Hound Steward Bernard Dobson of Welburn, York, Alan Reddy of Hull who has worked as a honey steward and Audery Spence of York, a Yorkshire Show steward with 14 years of service.

The awards are presented each year to honour long-standing contributions.
