Tenant chairman handover

He is succeeded by Jeremy Walker, a tenant of the Crown Estate, farming 650 acres in Somerset and involved in arable, beef, sheep, free-range poultry and contract farming. He is a past county chairman of Somerset NFU and a past chairman of Bridgwater Agricultural Society.

Mr Walker said: “As a first generation farmer I know how much of a struggle it is to get a start. A key area of concern for me will be to ensure that we have a viable farming ladder.

“I never cease to be amazed at the number of young people who come on to TFA stands asking how they can find a farm and it is heartbreaking when I know that the number of opportunities are so few.”

Greg Bliss said: “I can recall many occasions that were it not for the voice of the TFA, the needs of the tenanted sector would have been forgotten. And the TFA’s advice for members is second to none.”
