Towering sculptures to feature at 2012 Great Yorkshire Show

Four-year-old Lauren Batty got a sneak preview yesterday of towering sculptures which will feature at next week’s Great Yorkshire Show.

For the second year running, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society has teamed up with Yorkshire Sculpture Park to bring two iconic artworks to the three-day event at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate which begins on Tuesday. (July 10)

The scupltures were craned into place on the President’s Lawn and include The Horse is a Noble Animal, an 11.5ft wooden rocking horse by artist Marcia Farquhar and Sophie Ryder’s Pink Lady Hare Dancing with Big Brown Dog, which features a 7.5ft tall hare and dog.

Lauren, whose mumGail works at the showground, was given a sneak preview of what visitors will see in the agricultural show.
