Trusted with a taste for the best

A YORKSHIRE farm shop has been named as one of the finest in the country by the National Trust. Beningbrough Home Farm, on the Beningbrough Hall and Gardens estate just outside York, is one of 22 producers to be awarded one of this year’s fine farm produce awards by the trust. The awards, now in their sixth year celebrate the breadth and quality of produced on land owned or managed by the National Trust.

Lucy Jackson and her husband Alistair, from the farm said: ‘We had been dairy farmers for 40 years but we were forced out of business as it was costing us more to produce our milk than we were selling it for. We’re very proud of our beef, So many people tell us how good it is we really wanted it to have some sort of recognition, and so decided to enter the awards for the first time.’
