The very best take share of £23,000 at show

Nidderdale Show enjoyed fine weather on Monday when £23,000 in prize money was awarded to the winners of competition classes.

The judges had a challenge to pick out the very best animals from the livestock classes. As the show in Pateley Bridge show falls at the end of the season, winners from earlier shows are brought together in the rings.

Champion beef cattle winners by breed were: Aberdeen Angus - TA & P Johnson, Limousin - JM & SP Cooper, British Blonde - Ken Jackson and Kate McNeil, Beef Shorthorn - Mrs T Severn, British Blue - JW Stephenson and Highland - Mrs E Haley.

The commercial beef category was won by JA Stoney & Son who were also named Reserve Champion in the Interbreed competition. The Supreme Beef title went to Ken Jackson and Kate McNeil.

In the dairy cattle classes, Mr A Jennings presented the prize-winning Holstein and it was triple success for IRG Collins & Partners who picked up victories in the Jersey and Ayrshire classes before landing the Supreme Interbreed Champion title.

Mr Jennings was named the Reserve Interbreed Champion.

The champion sheep winners by breed were: Suffolk - L Peel, Swaledale - M Ewbank, Dalesbred Open - JT Kelsall, Dalesbred Local - JK Wilson, Jacob - Mrs S Bedell, Texel - M Keithley, Beltex - M & E Jennings, Dorset Horn/Poll Dorset - Thornbank Farms, North Country Cheviot - KO & EA Stones, Zwartbles - R Heigh, Blue Faced Leicester - F Caton, Mules - M & B Allen, Teeswater - D & GC Newbould, Masham - M & B Allen, Charollais - D Dennis, Wensleydale - Mrs YT Mudd, Ryeland - Mrs P Rothwell, Any Other Pure Breed - Ivanhoe Livestock and Rare Breed - Mrs JH Jackson.

The Interbreed Supreme Champion was named as F Caton with L Peel taking Reserve.
