Whole new vocation looms for TV’s queen of ‘Location’

Grabbing a deal on the property market may be her speciality, but grabbing hold of a sheep proved far more difficult for TV personality Kirstie Allsopp as the Great Yorkshire Show got under way.

However, with some advice from expert Roger Charnley, the Location, Location, Location star managed to shear her sheep completely and was given the fleece as a memento. She later went on to try her hand at a far less vigorous Yorkshire pursuit – making a Yorkshire pudding.

Ms Allsopp was at the show as part of the filming for a new television series exploring crafts in the UK.

The producer of the series, Lisa McCann, said: “Kirstie is on a craft journey to Britain’s brilliant shows.

“Each week will feature a different show and a different craft discipline and she will be meeting a whole host of crafters, from beginners to experts, along the way.”

Ms Allsopp was one of thousands of people who made their way to the Great Yorkshire Showground yesterday for the first day of the show – the 153rd in its history and the premier agricultural show in England.

This year’s event enjoyed record entries for its competitive classes with massive crowds surrounding the showground’s rings throughout the day. The Food Hall and trade stands also proved hugely popular.

Today will see the visit of Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The Prince, a regular visitor to the event, is patron of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, which organises the show.
