Event to help parents and families with loss of child

The event will offer support to people from a range of faiths, as well as those who are not religious.

Based around a children’s story with music and poems, the event will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 3pm in the Joint Committee Room, in Field House, at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

The memorial occasion has been organised by a multi disciplinary team at the trust to offer support not only to parents who have lost children, but other family members and friends who are also grieving.

Chaplain David Muschamp said: “The event gives parents and the wider family – siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, as well as close family friends – the chance to share feelings and grieve together in a supportive environment.

“Through music and words we will try to help people with their grief, no matter how recent or old their loss.

“There will be space for reflection, and we will light candles for the youngsters who have died,” he added.

The event will be based around children’s story ‘Where do balloons go? – an uplifting mystery’ by Jamie Lee Curtis.

Families who have lost children or babies at Bradford’s hospitals in the past 18 months will be invited to the event, and anyone who thinks they would benefit from the occasion is welcome to attend.
