The crowds are thought to have topped last year's figure of 16,000 people flocking to the annual event in West Yorkshire.

Leslie Gore, chairman and managing director of Airedale Agricultural Society, which organises the show, said: "We have had a record attendance. We have had a lot of interest and a good diversification of performers in the main show ring.

"We are very pleased with the results and very grateful to our sponsors for the support we get every year and I am pleased for them that they can see the results of it. It's good for them and it's good for the people of Bingley.

"I am also grateful to our sections' chairmen who work extremely hard throughout the year to bring the show to fruition. Everyone we have spoken to thinks it is an excellent show."

Farmers from across England travelled to Bingley to show their animals at the event, which claims to be the only show in the country to exhibit cats and mice.

As well as a range of livestock, visitors were treated to an array of live entertainment including a crazy clown feature .

Traditional favourites included a sheep dog display, falconry and heavy horses.
