Exclusive: Why I love life by right-to-die campaigner Paul Lamb

But Paul Lamb, who was paralysed in a car accident in 1990, says he is battling for the option to be assisted to end his life if his situation becomes unbearable.

“I absolutely love life,” said the 58-year-old. “All I want is freedom of choice. I want to feel that this country definitely, when I know I can’t take any more, will listen to me.”

Mr Lamb, from Leeds, last year joined a legal case started by Tony Nicklinson, who had locked-in syndrome but died in 2012 after refusing food. Now he and Mr Nicklinson’s widow Jane are awaiting a ruling from the Supreme Court. “This is about recognising the ultimate right of a person,” said Mr Lamb.
