Expanded library is opened

A library which has more than doubled in size after a £345,000 refurbishment will be opened officially tomorrow.

Crosshills library now has 17,000 worth of new books and better facilities, including a self-service machine to reduce waiting.

The bigger children's area houses books, DVDs and story tapes as well as being a venue for events and activities.

A North Yorkshire County Council spokesman said: "We are really pleased and excited to have this new facility in Crosshills – not only does it provide a much improved library for the community but it offers the opportunity for other agencies and organisations to deliver and promote their services."
