Expert hails breast cancer advances

Speaking at a conference in London, Professor Rob Coleman highlighted the developments in treating metastatic breast cancer – disease that has spread

to other parts.

He said: "The introduction of targeted treatments and organ-

specific treatments are providing clinicians with increased options for prolonging the lives of women with metastatic breast cancer.

"In Sheffield we are now testing the drug combination of chemotherapy and zoledronic acid to prevent metastasis in patients. Pre-clinical results are very exciting."
