DETECTIVES are investigating a suspected attempt to blackmail model and television presenter Tamara Ecclestone.
The 27-year-old daughter of Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is said to have contacted police after allegedly receiving threats to give details about her personal life.
Officers in the affluent London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, where Miss Ecclestone’s 81-year-old father has bought her a multimillion-pound property, are probing the claims.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “On Monday, December 5, police on Kensington and Chelsea borough received a complaint regarding an inappropriate communication relating to the release of personal information.
“The allegation was assessed and is now being investigated at this early stage as blackmail.
“CID on Kensington and Chelsea are investigating. No arrests have been made.”
Miss Ecclestone – who ranked among the UK’s 10 most eligible women in a poll for men’s magazine FHM in 2006 – is the elder daughter of the motor-racing magnate from his marriage to second wife Slavica.
No stranger to the media spotlight, she recently appeared in Channel 5 reality show Billion Dollar Girl, which documented her lavish lifestyle.
It came after the socialite was pictured with a new Ferrari – reportedly a gift from her boyfriend, Omar Khyami.
Apparently too excited to get dressed before taking delivery of the car, she admired the vehicle wearing pink pyjama bottoms with bows on.
In May this year, Miss Ecclestone became the face and body of lingerie brand Ultimo to front the firm’s summer, autumn and winter campaigns.
Following in her mother’s modelling footsteps, she claimed being in front of the camera came to her “quite naturally”.
Miss Ecclestone, was born in Milan and educated at Francis Holland School for girls in Sloane Square.
A spokesman for Miss Ecclestone said: “Tamara is aware of the matter and the police are handling it on her behalf.”
