Fair tempts top dealers to show off fine art and prized antiques

Dealers, many of whom have shown at the fair for many years, will be on hand to discuss the objects and explain about investment, ownership and use of the pieces on show.

Creative England, who provide a service finding locations for film and television, will also have a stand at the fair and will be looking for interesting homes, terraces or farms to put on their database.

Showing fine art will be Walker Galleries of Harrogate, Haynes Fine Art of Broadway, and Rowles Fine Art. Also, specialists Art of the Imagination are returning with their illustrations.

Fair organiser Louise Walker said: “After 30 years of running the fair, I am still thrilled with the enormous depth and breath in the range of antiques that turn up each year.

“It’s a pleasure to work in and around so many beautiful objects and knowledgable people.“

The fair encompasses a huge variety of periods, trends and styles. This year there will be 20th century and Art Nouveau specialist dealers, adding another dimension to the fair.

Many exhibitors are members of either the British Antique Dealers’ Association or the London and Provincial Antique Dealers Association and are well-known for their expertise.

Fine jewellery will be represented by Howards of Stratford, St James Antiques of Manchester, Sheldon Shapiro and Licht & Morrison of Mayfair.

Silver will be shown by Jack Shaw & Co from Yorkshire and Vine Antiques and Edward Burd are back with clocks and barometers with pottery and porcelain from Roger de Ville, John Newton and Philip Carrol and furniture from Millington Adams, S&S Timms and Church Street Antiques. The fair runs until Monday at the Harrogate International Centre.
