INQUESTS INTO the death of three children and two women killed in a house fire in Sheffield have been opened and adjourned.

Post-mortem examinations have revealed that siblings Adyan Parwaiz Kayani, nine, Amaan Parwaiz Kayani, seven and nine-week-old Minahil Parwaiz Kayani, their aunt Anum Parwaiz, 20, and grandmother Shabina Begum, 53, all died from smoke inhalation in the blaze which ripped through Wake Road, Nether Edge in the early hours of Monday morning.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the joint investigation between South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue is continuing.

It is not thought to have been started deliberately.

Sheffield District Commander David Hartley said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and are also with the local community, who are not only struggling to come to terms with this terrible tragedy but have also had to deal with disruption over the past few days.

“More information will be released in due course.”
