Family launches photos competition

FOUR generations of a family who have lived on one of Hull's best-known roads are helping launch a photography competition.

The Burbage family – headed by great-grandmother Marjorie Burbage, 82 – have already picked out places and landmarks along Hessle Road which mean something to them.

For Mrs Burbage, it is the "Crafts" sign above the Winfields shop where her mother worked when she was a child.

People are being asked to take their own photos which capture the essence of the street.

The 10 winning photographs will be transformed into artworks by artist Bruce Williams.

Entries can be uploaded to www.gatewayhull.co.uk/hessle-road, or prints can be posted to My Hessle Road competition, Gateway, 5th Floor, Kingston House, Bond Street, Hull, HU1 3BR. Closing date is September 17.
