Family of murdered detective tell of grief

THE family of a murdered policewomen from Yorkshire whose body was found in woodland on Sunday, have spoken of their grief.

Heather Cooper, a detective constable and mother-of-two, died from a blow to the head and a stab wound to the throat.

Her partner, Peter Foster, a former police detective, appeared in court yesterday charged with her murder.

The statement issued on behalf of relatives of Miss Cooper, who was originally from York, said: “As a family we are devastated by the loss of Heather in such tragic circumstances. She was a much loved daughter, sister and granddaughter as well as a devoted mother to her children.

“She was extremely proud to serve as a police officer, often going above and beyond in her duty, and her dedication and professionalism was recognised and commended.”

Foster, of West Street, Haslemere, will appear at Lewes Crown Court for a preliminary hearing today (fri).
