Fans go batty to buy Nora’s home

The sale of a cottage in the picturesque Yorkshire village of Holmfirth might not normally attract the attentions of people from across the globe.

However the cottage in question will be familiar to millions as the home of Nora Batty from the legendary Last of the Summer Wine sitcom.

Viewers can now own a piece of television history with the house, based on Holmfirth’s Huddersfield Road, now up for sale.

Perhaps one of the most iconic houses in British television, it appeared in countless episodes throughout the show’s run between 1973 and 2010.

The house has two bedrooms and is currently used as a holiday let, attracting fans from all over the world, and is decorated with signed photos from cast members throughout the ages,

The estate agent said: “It is tastefully decorated, as Nora Batty would approve and is nestled alongside other famous sites used in the series, including Sid’s Cafe and The White Horse Pub.”
