Fans rally round as singer loses baby

LILY ALLEN yesterday thanked fans for their support after losing her baby a few days earlier.

The chart-topping star was six months pregnant but lost the baby last weekend following complications. The 25-year-old singer had previously suffered a miscarriage in 2008 when she was dating Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons.

A spokesman for Allen announced that she and partner Sam Cooper had lost the child and asked for privacy at such a "deeply distressing time". Yesterday Allen posted a message on Twitter to say: "Thank you for all your kind messages."

She has been a prolific user of the social networking site and last weekend she posted a message saying simply "say a little prayer x", before the problems with her pregnancy became public knowledge. Many friends had sent messages of support , including Myleene Klass, Emma Bunton and Denise Van Outen.

Allen, daughter of comedian and actor Keith Allen, started dating 32-year-old Cooper, a builder, last year.

Allen has released two best-selling albums and a number of hit singles including The Fear and Smile.
