Farewell to 104-year-old Twitter favourite

A Yorkshire woman who became the world's oldest social networker has been laid to rest.

Ivy Bean, who died last week at the age of 104, spent the last few years of her life in the media spotlight after she became the oldest person on Facebook and Twitter, where she attracted thousands of fans including Peter Andre and Stephen Fry.

Friends, family and staff from Hillside Residential Home in Bradford, where Mrs Bean spent her final years, gathered yesterday for a funeral service at Nab Wood Crematorium in Bradford. An excerpt from a poem read by Mrs Bean's granddaughter, Fiona, said: "Loved by thousands all over the world, everyone said you were Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl. Facebook and Twitter never fazed you at 104, Ivy you were so popular, all your followers wanting to know more."
