Farmers still waiting for vital subsidy cheques

Nearly 13,000 farmers in England are still awaiting the payment of vital subsidy cheques, a Government agency has admitted.

The Rural Payments Agency has confirmed that 16 per cent of the 1.86bn 2009 Single Farm Payment fund has yet to be paid. Bungled claims from previous years, are said to have contributed to the delays.
