The designer, who was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, and trained in Dewsbury and Leeds became an overnight hit in the country after showcasing her collection at the Vancouver Fashion Week.

Marketing Leeds, the organisation which promotes the city, provided the opportunity for Lisa and another Leeds designer, James Steward, to show their collections in the Canadian city as part of a pioneering initiative, Leeds in Vancouver, demonstrating the Leeds fashion and shopping offer.

Deborah Green, the chief executive of Marketing Leeds said: "Marketing a city is not just about bricks and mortar; it's about the people who give the city its unique personality and vibrancy, it's about showcasing the talent on offer.

"At Marketing Leeds we feel that initiatives which support talented individuals, such as Lisa, can only serve to promote Leeds' distinctive offer on the international stage.

"Leeds in Vancouver has proven an overwhelming success.

"Not only have we managed to secure world-wide recognition for Lisa, we have gained an invaluable number of contacts in both retail and manufacturing for the city of Leeds as a whole."

Described as the "Queen of Leeds independent fashion", Lisa, 35, has gained recognition for her killer pieces and has won Leeds Independent Retail Awards Designer of the year award.

Her designs have gained a big celebrity fan base, including Leeds-based TV star Lucy Jo Hudson (Lisa recently designed her bridesmaid dresses), Sara Cox, Kerry Katona and Colleen Rooney.

Lisa's twin sister Nicola Dann, a handbag designer, created bags for the bridesmaids.

Lisa said: "Being featured in Grazia Bulgaria is incredible. Knowing that women all over the world will have the chance to view my collection is amazing."
