Fashion fundraising venture unveiled during horse trials

LEEDS-born broadcaster Gabby Logan is hosting a fashion event in her home city in aid of charities helping the Armed Forces.

The Fashion Joins Forces event is taking place on Thursday and Friday, June 2 and 3, at the Welcome to Yorkshire Bramham International Horse Trials.

Harvey Nichols and Ogden of Harrogate are getting together to stage three catwalk shows over the two days, supported by Coutts & Co, and in aid of the Yorkshire Regiment Charitable Trust and the Household Cavalry Operational Casualty Fund.

The event at Bramham Park is to launch Fashion Joins Forces as a fund-raising venture.

Gabby Logan, who will introduce two shows on Thursday June 2 in conjunction with BBC Look North’s Clare Frisby, said: “I am thrilled to be involved in the Fashion Joins Forces event at Bramham.

“The money they raise goes towards buying some very simple but life enhancing things which most of us take for granted, at a time when some of the bravest people in our country, the men and women in the Armed Forces, need our help the most.

“I really hope the event is a huge success, raises lots of money and people will have fun along the way,” said the TV and radio presenter.

The Friday compere will be Elly Fiorentini of BBC Radio York.

In addition to the catwalk shows, there will be styling advice and make-up experts on hand to give tips.

Fashion Joins Forces is being organised by Rachel Lane Fox and Emma Ingilby, who said: “It’s a great opportunity to raise funds and awareness for two fantastic military charities.”

The former Chief of the General Staff, General Lord Dannatt, has backed this latest fund-raising event.

The Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund aims to provide immediate financial support to injured soldiers and their families, including supporting the families of those who have lost their lives on active service.

Both Nick Lane Fox, the current owner of Bramham Park, and his father George Lane Fox, the founder and event organiser of the Welcome to Yorkshire Bramham International Horse Trials, served with the Household Cavalry.

Those with fashion show tickets will also get free entry to the horse trials.
