‘Fasten your green belt’ call to town

COUNTRYSIDE campaigners are lobbying for rural land on the east of Doncaster to be designated as green belt in order to put tighter controls on development.

“Doncaster already has a green belt to the west, but we want to see it extended all the way round.

“We’re urging Doncaster to fasten its green belt now.”

Mr King added: “We realise that jobs, houses and economic growth are vital to local people, especially in the current climate, but our local countryside is precious and needs safeguarding.

“Doncaster should allocate sufficient land to meet residents’ employment and housing needs, and then designate the remaining countryside as green belt.”
