Fears for teenagers missing from care home

CONCERN is growing for the welfare of two teenage boys who went missing from a children's home in Carburton, Worksop, earlier this week.

David Simpson, 14, and Charlie Burgess, 13, left Dawn House School at Duncanwood Lodge at about noon on Tuesday.

They were first seen walking along the cycle trail running alongside Duncanwood Lodge, near the B6034 Worksop to Ollerton Road.

A few hours later they were seen again in Worksop town centre.

Two boys matching their descriptions were also seen near Worksop railway station between 3pm and 4pm on the same day. Police say that the pair may have been trying to hitchhike to London.

David is white, 5ft 7in and has short mousy hair. He was wearing a burgundy jumper, black tracksuit bottoms, grey trainers, orange gloves and a white and blue cap.

He is originally from the Sunderland area and has a north-east accent.

Charlie is also white and 5ft 4in tall, with short black hair.

He was wearing a dark grey top, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Originally from Croydon, he has a London accent.

Since Tuesday police have been carrying out an extensive search of Carburton and the wider Worksop area.

Det Chief Insp Vince Treece, who is leading the search for the boys, said: "These boys may have been trying to catch a lift out of the area and may have approached passing motorists.

"They may have spent the night outside in the cold temperatures, and we are expecting freezing weather conditions over the next few days so we need to find them to make sure that they are safe and well. Anyone who has spoken to or seen these boys is asked to please contact police."
