Festival celebrates city’s ghouls and ghosts

Have your say

A NEW festival celebrating the ghosts and ghouls among the historic city centre of York is to take place next week.

Organisers of the three-day festival, Spooksfest, say they have chosen York as they believe it is the most haunted city in Europe, and some of the UK’s top experts in the paranormal and supernatural will be attending.

Among the activities on offer include ghost walks, dramatised readings of classic M.R. James tales of terror at Fairfax House, candle-lit tours of the Mansion House and horror films to be shown at the City Screen.

There will also be a series of talks at 14th century Bedern Hall, on topics ranging from vampires to contacting the dead.

The festival takes place from March 11 to March 13. For more information visit www.spooksfest.co.uk.
