Festival placed in adminstration last year announces new plans

The organisers of a music festival placed in administration last year have announced plans for a smaller event but admitted thousands of pounds owed to traders cannot be paid back before it is held.

Galtres Festival Trading Ltd, confirmed last September it had been placed in administration following last year’s Galtres Festival at Duncombe Park, Helmsley. Concerns were raised by angry stallholders and traders that they had been left thousands of pounds out of pocket after not being paid.

Out-of-pocket caterers at the time voiced their anger on social media websites.

The Galtres Festival Charitable Foundation today confirmed a scaled back event will be held at Duncombe Park, Helmsley, over the August Bank Holiday weekend this year. The event will now be known as Parklands.

James Houston, festival director, said: “Sadly the event didn’t work financially and some suppliers and traders couldn’t be paid. It was an awful situation which had a terrible impact on those affected.”

He said however that Parklands 2015 will be scaled down from last year.

However the statement admitted all outstanding bills will not be settled before this year’s events. It said the only new source of income to repay creditors was potentially from the profits from future events. Organisers said they planned to invite some traders who lost money last year to come back for free and to keep the revenues they receive in a bid them to help them recoup losses.

Last year’s event featured headliners The Levellers, Morcheeba and The Human League.
