Festive bonus as refurbished pitch opens

Grassroots football in Bedale has received a bonus with the opening of a new artificial grass pitch.

The artificial 3G grass pitch was officially opened at Bedale Leisure Centre by Len Scott, Chairman of North Riding FA. It received a £50,427 grant from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund, which provides grants towards developing new or refurbished grassroots football facilities.

Hambleton District Council secured the funding for the project, which has seen the refurbishment and upgrading of the previous pitch with a new 3G surface. The refurbished facility will be used extensively by Bedale High School, Bedale JFC and the local community.

Coun John Prest, Chairman, Hambleton District Council said the pitch offered: “a top class facility for the local community.”
