Festive dip to raise school cash

PEOPLE are being urged to take a festive dip in the North Sea to raise money for a school.

In the past three years the Flamborough Pre-School Boxing Day Dip has become a part of the festive calendar, with many residents taking part.

This year the Flamborough Longsword Dancers are supporting the event and are encouraging people to head down to South Landing to cheer on the dippers before returning to the village for their annual Boxing Day tradition, which sees them performing outside each pub in aid of local charities.

One of the organisers Helen Broadley said: “We want Boxing Day to be a day that local people really look forward to, full of lots of community activity and traditions.”

People can still register for this year’s dip by collecting a sponsorship form from the village’s The old Tuck Shop or The Rose and Crown pub. People are asked to gather at South Landing at 10.45am for an 11am start.
