Film tax break extended

Film-makers have welcomed the extension of tax relief for the movie industry – which has helped films such as Brighton Rock and Attack The Block – to the end of 2015.

The tax break applies to “culturally British” films provided about £95m of support in the year 2009/10 and boosted movies including Gnomeo & Juliet and Clash Of The Titans, as well as the final two instalments of the Harry Potter series.

Minister Ed Vaizey said: “Film tax relief is at the heart of our drive to support the production of culturally British films within a sustainable and vibrant industry.”
