She was spotted in the sea off Flamborough’s North Landing as scenes were filmed for the production which also stars Sarah Lancashire, Bill Nighy and Michael Gambon. Scenes featuring the hapless Home Guard were also filmed on the beach.

Zeta Jones will play a journalist sent to write about the men’s exploits in the film, which is directed by Oliver Parker and sees the Home Guard volunteers in search of a spy.

Filming began in Yorkshire for the production last month with the 300ft cliffs at Bempton set to become the White Cliffs of Dover, while Bridlington’s High Street will stand in as the fictional Walmington-on-Sea.

The film was financed through executive producers Wiggin EP and is backed by Screen Yorkshire through the Yorkshire Content Fund. It is the latest in a number of films that have recently used Yorkshire as a location. Hollywood A-lister Drew Barrymore was recently spotted filming on the moors of Ilkley. She was seen alongside Australian actress Toni Collette and a production crew at the Cow and Calf Hotel in the town.

Sigourney Weaver was recently spotted in Linthwaite, Huddersfield, as filming started there for a new movie.
