Alistair Moncrieff, the chief executive of beprotectedinsurance.com, which already employs 31 staff in Leeds, said: “Our research tells us that consumers find buying insurance unnecessarily complex and they often feel they aren’t getting the right deal.

“We combine the latest technology and good old-fashioned service to source the best deal for the individual.

“It seems to be working, as we’ve already grown tenfold in the last twelve months.

“Leeds is the perfect location to support our growth with a long history of financial services contact centres, and one of the largest digital sectors outside London.”

The company, which established a Leeds base 18 months ago, had a turnover of around £1m last year. Mr Moncrieff believes the turnover figure could reach £4m this year.

Leeds is establishing a reputation as one of the leading Fintech - or financial technology - centres in the UK, in a sector worth an estimated £20bn annually.
