Fire crews save animals from blazing cattery

Cats were yesterday being treated by vets as firefighters battling a blaze at a cattery.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said two animals were taken away by vets after a fire began in a building in Cannock, Staffordshire, at about 5.30am.

Six fire crews were sent to the blaze. .

A fire service spokesman later said: “We took a call at 5.31am and were told the building was well alight.

“A vet attended and has gone away with two live cats but we do not know anything about any cat fatalities.

“The cattery owners will be contacting the animals’ owners in due course.”
