Fire crews tackle half a mile of moorland fire

Fire crews have been battling to put out a blaze that was covering half a mile of moorland in West Yorkshire last night.

The fire, on on the A672 at Rishworth Moor, in Calderdale, Halifax was visible from junction 22 of the M62 motorway after it broke out at around 10pm on Sunday.

Six pumps were first sent to the scene along with specialist moorland equipment but by midnight extra resources had to be drafted in. The crews were assisted by six leaf blowers, four aquaback packs and five beaters.
