Firefighter award for giving terrier mouth to mouth

A FIREFIGHTER has won an animal welfare award for giving the kiss of life to a dog that was rescued from a house fire.

Mike Dunn spent half an hour performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and giving oxygen therapy to Sunny, a terrier which showed no sign of life when she was pulled from a fire in Silverdale Road, Hull, on March 16.

Mr Dunn, of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, was presented with the Animal Lifesaver Award by the International Fund for Animal Welfare yesterday.

Charity director Robbie Marsland said: “We are pleased to reward Mike’s amazing dedication to rescuing both animals and people and wanted to recognise his outstanding efforts.”
