Firefighters hunt for missing finger in Copmanthorpe

HEAT-SEEKING cameras were used to try and find the missing finger of a man found next to a railway track overnight.

North Yorkshire firefighters were called to help rescue a man from beside a stretch of track near Copmanthorpe on the outskirts of York.

A ladder was used to help get the man up the embankment and into the care of ambulance staff when it was discovered one his fingers had been severed.

Lights and heat-seeking cameras were used by firefighters to try and locate the missing digit but with no success.

The incident happened near Fairfax Croft, in Copmanthorpe, at around 1am.
