Firefighters tackle blaze at The Deep in Hull

POPULAR tourist attraction The Deep has been forced to close after a fire broke out at the site in Hull.

The Yorkshire Post understands that firefighters were called to the blaze at around 12.30pm today after a fire broke out in an electrical cupboard.

No-one was injured in the incident and the site is expected to re-open on Friday, August 12.

A statement on The Deep’s Facebook page earlier today said: “Please do not visit The Deep today as we have had to close due to a fire.

“If you have already visited today please call us in a few days and we will refund you.

“We are still waiting for information from the fire brigade who are inside. Thank you for your understanding.”

On Twitter, The Deep said: “Please do not come to The Deep, we are closed due to a fire! Tonight’s Twilight Times event has had to be cancelled, we will be in touch!”

A recorded message said: “Due to the fire, The Deep is currently closed on the 10th and 11th of August.

“We will re-open on Friday, the 12th of August.

“Please check the website and social media for further updates.”
