Firms given Dragons' Den style opportunity

BUSINESSES in Rotherham are being offered the chance to win a cash prize and free advertising through a "Dragons' Den"-style event.

Rotherham Enterprise Board and UK Steel Enterprise have together set up the competition, inspired by the BBC television programme, which aims to offer local companies the chance to expand their existing businesses.

Those taking part should be based in Rotherham and have been trading for no more than three years.

A select number of businesses which apply will be chosen to enter the "den" on Thursday, September 30, where they will pitch their ideas for expansion to a panel of Rotherham-based entrepreneurs.

Laura Brown, enterprise events co-ordinator for the Rotherham Enterprise Board, said: "With a prize of 1,500, venture capital investment opportunities and exclusive editorial coverage in South Yorkshire Business magazine up for grabs, your dreams could soon be a reality.

"We're looking for people who are ready to take the next step in developing their business.

"If you feel your business would benefit from a cash injection or some advice and support from successful local entrepreneurs then this event will prove invaluable."

"The Enterprise Board events are designed to help early stage and smaller businesses, whilst loan and equity finance of up to 750,000 is available from our own investment fund for more established businesses in Rotherham and throughout South Yorkshire."
